The gallbladder is a smaller organ found beneath the liver, on the right side of the body. The gallbladder's function is to store the bile produced by the liver, which the body then uses to process fats. Unfortunately, the gallbladder can begin to fail over time.
What is gallbladder surgery like to experience?
When undergoing gallbladder removal surgery at Advanced Surgical Technology, you can expect to feel comfortable, cared for, and even pampered. We believe our patients deserve the most advanced treatments, performed with kindness, respect, and integrity.
Before your surgery, you will be required to avoid eating and drinking for several hours. If you need to take a certain medication, take just a very small sip of water. Any medication that could increase the risk of bleeding must be stopped, which will be discussed with your other medical providers. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, and arrange for a friend or family member to drive you home when your surgery is complete. We will provide you with a full list of pre-op and post-op instructions and will guide you and support you at every step.
You will not experience any pain during the procedure due to the effect of anesthesia. Our single-site laparoscopic approach involves creating a single incision in your belly button. This advanced approach is virtually scarless, has a low complication rate, and is less likely to lead to infection at the incision site. You will wake up after the procedure, and after monitoring your progress, will be released to return home to rest and recover.
