In-office wound treatment includes a range of procedures and other treatments for wounds performed in our office. It may consist of cleansing, irrigation, and debridement (removing dead or diseased tissue from the wound).
What can I expect with in-office wound treatment?
After a thorough evaluation and examination, our surgeon will design a wound treatment plan to help you achieve relief and improved health.
Evaluation of blood supply
An initial circulatory evaluation can help determine whether you need vascular surgery to restore blood flow and oxygen to the area. Wounds cannot heal without an adequate supply of oxygen.
Debridement
If your wound requires debridement, it may be performed in the office. The doctor will use sterile instruments to remove dead or diseased tissue from the area. Other possible treatment options include:
- Irrigation spray to remove unhealthy tissue
- Creams or enzymes to digest diseased tissue painlessly
- Specialized topical agents to help with painless debridement
- Interactive dressings to help stimulate healing and cleanse the wound of unhealthy tissue
